Everyone loves getting compliments on their looks. In the era of modernism, everyone wants to look at their best. Hair is the most important part of the looks. If you have healthy, long and shiny hair, you can deal with anything.
First of all, let make sure we all know the signs of healthy hair. Healthy hair is simply hair that is both strong and soft. The hair can stretch up to 30% of its length when wet, so if it's unhealthy, it will break. Also, your hair should be silky to the touch and bouncy. Here are the tips that we'd recommend to help you get the best hair weave extensions to make your hair stronger and longer.
Care Tips For Healthy Hair
Tip 1: Protect Your Hair
Always protect your hair from sun, wind and rain. Exposure to excessive sun, heat, dirt, pollution, etc. adds to our already existent hair woes. These can lead to dirt build up, drying out of hair and scalp, increased susceptibility to infections on the scalp. Cover your hair with an umbrella or a hat. Even your dupatta will do.
Tip 2: The Rules Of Shampoo
Whether your hair is curly, straight or wavy hair, shampoo is simply meant to cleanse your hair, therefore over shampooing causes dryness, which is the number one cause of frizz and dullness. The solution: shampoo no more than two to three times per week, max. When you do shampoo, it’s only necessary to cleanse your scalp, leaving the rest of your hair untouched, as shampooing strips the hair of its natural oils, causing dryness, frizz, lack of shine, the list goes on!
Tip 3: Water Temp
Hot water, like any type of heat, blows up the hair’s cuticle (aka the outer layer shaft which directly effects hair growth), increasing frizz, so always rinse with cool water versus hot.
Tip 4: Condition The Right Way
Conditioning needs to be done right. Conditioners are formulated to seal in the moisture content in the hair shaft. They are not meant for the scalp. Start conditioning about 2 inches away from your scalp. Too much conditioner on the scalp will only make your scalp excessively oily.
Tip 5: Get It Wet Less Often
Water makes hair swell from the inside, which forces the cuticle up. When that happens over and over again, you get frizz and breakage. Don't wash your hair more than you have to. Whenever you can skip a day, that's great. Instead, embrace a dry shampoo that's a hard-core oil and odor absorber.
Tip 6: Air Dry Your Hair
We are so used to wrapping our hair weave bundle deals in turbans after wash. This can cause lots of hair breakage and hair fall. It's better to let hair dry naturally after gently wiping and patting with a soft towel.
Tip 7: Trim Regularly
It may sound counter-productive, but frequent trimming of split ends will actually help your hair grow longer faster. Split ends cause breakage and, if left unchecked, will travel upward weakening your hair and causing it to frizz.
How often to trim depends on your hair type. Dry hair will need to be trimmed about every 4 – 6 weeks. As your hair becomes healthier and more vital, you may be able to go 2 – 3 months between trims. Just remember not to trim off too much hair. About a quarter inch at each trimming should do the trick.
Tip 8: Applying Hair Conditioner To Your Roots
Hair conditioners are made with rich amounts of thick emollients and oils which, when incorrectly applied to your roots, tend to trap the oil in, causing hair to become temporarily soft and bouncy due to the hair conditioners but eventually show the dryness and brittleness caused by the lack of natural oils flowing through the cuticle.
Tip 9: Upgrade Your Pillowcase
If you’re prone to frizz, fly away, and have thick hair in general, a silk pillowcase is a major game-changer. Not only will sleeping on a silky smooth surface with minimal friction help keep your blow dry or curl pattern intact, it decreases the chance of frizz, breakage, and even helps your skin by minimizing the potential for wrinkles!
Tip 10: Avoid Over-styling Your Hair
Limit your use of tools like hair dryers and curling irons, as the heat can dry out your hair and scalp, increasing the risk of damage.
Tip 11: Brush Effectively
Brushing, this is a sure shot way to increase the luster of your hair. It spreads the natural oils through the length of your hair. But don’t overdo this. And do not use plastic brushes as they cause increased breakage.
