Coily hair is a hair texture characterized by tightly coiled or curled strands that form natural spiral or corkscrew patterns. It is often referred to as "kinky" or "afro-textured" hair. Coily hair is common among people of African, African-American, Afro-Caribbean, and some Afro-Latino descent, but it can also be found in individuals from other ethnic backgrounds.
Here are some key characteristics and features of coily hair:
1. Tight Curls:Coily hair has tight, well-defined curls or coils that can range from small and compact to larger and looser, depending on an individual's genetics.
2. Texture Variation:Coily hair can vary in texture from fine to coarse, and it may have different curl patterns throughout the head.
3. Shrinkage:Coily hair often experiences a significant amount of shrinkage, which means that when it's wet or stretched, it appears longer than when it's in its natural, coiled state.
4. Dryness:Coily hair tends to be naturally dry because the natural oils produced by the scalp have a harder time traveling down the spiral strands, making it more prone to moisture loss.
5. Fragile:Coily hair can be delicate and prone to breakage if not handled gently and with care. Protective hairstyles, regular conditioning, and minimal manipulation are often recommended to maintain their health.
6. Versatility:Coily hair is incredibly versatile and can be styled in various ways, including twist-outs, braid-outs, afros, cornrows, and more. It can also be straightened temporarily with heat-styling tools.
7. Maintenance:Coily hair may require more frequent detangling, deep conditioning, and moisturizing to prevent dryness and breakage.

How To Care For Coily Hair?
Even though curly hair is considered the most fragile and dehydrated of hair, that doesn't mean there aren't ways to manage it. It just means the coil needs extra care and attention. Here, we share ways to care for curly hair so you can rock your hair with confidence.
1. Daily cleaning
1) Add a pre-poo method. Mix the hair oil and conditioner together in advance. After using the shampoo, apply the two to the hair and leave it on for 10-15 minutes, then rinse. Not only does this help soften your hair (making it easier to tangle), it also strengthens and nourishes it.
2) Use a shampoo with a moisturizing formula.Look for shampoos with ingredients like aloe vera, glycerin, and honey; avoid any products with sulfates, silicones, and mineral oils, which can cause breakage, prevent hair growth, and cause more dryness.
3) Give hair more moisture.Moisture is what our hair craves, and the best way to get it is from water itself, so make sure you moisturize your hair at least once a week. However, water doesn't always mean shampoo. Those of us with curly hair should only use sulfate-free shampoos, like our Murumuru Butter and Rose Shampoo or Turmeric and Tonka Bean Extract Shampoo.
2. Improve sleeping habits
Tossing and turning while sleeping can put stress on your hair and lead to breakage. We recommend using a silk or satin pillowcase or wearing a scarf or hat to keep your curls healthy and happy.
3. Prune regularly
If you want to say goodbye to split ends and hello to hair growth, regular trims can be very helpful, especially when the weather changes. Winter weather can make curls look dehydrated and dull. Cold weather can dry out the ends of your hair, so trimming them once a month during the winter will help keep them strong and healthy.
4. Use styling methods
It is recommended in the form of twists, braids, and buns to ensure that the hair can flourish when dry.
5. Clips and wigs
Try curlers, rollers, extensions, or clip-in extensions. These are great for girls with curly hair as they help prevent breakage and ensure the hair follicles are protected for longer.
