Whether it is a real hair wig or a synthetic wig, there will be some flying hair extending. If it is not sorted well, it will make the entire wig look very frizzy. Today I'm going to break down what causes those flyaways hairs to stick up in the air and what you can do to fix wig frizz.

1. What Is Flyaway Hair?

Flyaway hair is a combination of the words fly and away. The hair stands vertically instead of lying flat. Because flyaways are shorter, finer, and weigh less than the rest of the hair, these little messes are difficult to cover up or style, but sometimes flyaway hair can add a little dimension to your hairstyle.

A rough amount of flying hair will cause frizz. Frizzy hair can make people angry and make the style sparse, but remember that flyaway hair does not mean frizz. It is two different things.

2. What Causes Flyaway Hair?

Internal factors

1) Growth of new hair: Everything is constantly growing, and hair is no exception. The newly grown hair is short and thin at the beginning, protruding upward, and the hair looks scattered. However, this reason is only used to explain my hair. After all, the wig will not have new hair.

2) Insufficient hair cleansing - accumulations (products, dirt, cells) on the scalp will cover the hair. If the hair is not washed enough, it will cause the hair to fly away. In severe cases, it will cause frizzy scalp surface and matted hair.

External factor

1) Static electricity - In dry or windy winter, the charge on the hair surface is easily out of balance. If the hair rubs against other objects (such as towels, hats, pillows, etc.) or air, it will cause the transfer and accumulation of charge. Static electricity is generated, causing hair to fly around.

2) Heat styling – Frequent use of hair dryers, curling irons, and straighteners for excessive heat styling can make your hair brittle, which can lead to breakage and these broken strands can fly.

3) Chemical damage - Chemical styling treatments such as dyeing, highlights, perms, and relaxers will cause certain damage to the hair follicles, causing the hair to no longer grow healthily and causing messy hair.

4) Humidity – When the moisture content in your hair is lower than the air humidity, your hair will become frizzy and messy. Moisture can get into the hair, disrupting its arrangement and making smooth hair tangled.

5) Dry climate – When hair is dry, it absorbs excess moisture from the environment, causing messy hair.

3.How To Get Rid Of Flyaway Hair On A Wig?

1) Don’t over-shampoo, use moisturizing shampoo and conditioner

Washing your hair regularly to remove product residue can keep your hair smooth and shiny, but please do not over-shampoo, because shampooing will remove the moisture contained in the hair, and if the hair is too dry, the hair will easily become flyaway or frizzy.

At the same time, when washing your hair, try to use a clean, vegan, moisturizing shampoo and conditioner combination to replenish moisture and remove all-natural oils from your hair. It smoothes hair and eliminates breakage while providing hair with the moisture it needs.

oil care

2) Essential oil care

Hair oil can effectively tame unruly hair. Drop 2-3 drops of hair oil in the center of your palm, rub it gently and apply it on your hair. When our hair is moisturized, unruly hair will be reduced. Be sure to do so after washing your hair every time. Keep applying hair oil.

3) Use heat protectant

Many times, these nasty strands are caused by hair breakage, and to prevent this from happening, be sure to use a heat protectant before blow drying or brushing your hair. Heat styling helps seal cuticles and prevent frizz. If your hair has static electricity, wipe the tangled hair with a dryer sheet to let the hair hang smoothly.

4) Use a wide-tooth comb

A brush with dense bristles will cause friction between hairs, which will cause hair breakage. Please use a wide-tooth comb to comb your hair, and try to comb upward from the end of the hair instead of combing downward from the root to prevent hair breakage. Breakage and flyaway hair.

5) Wrap your hair with silk products

If you often turn over at night, you will find that your hair is messy when you wake up the next day. This is because the constant friction between ordinary pillowcases and hair will cause static electricity and breakage, while silk products can reduce the friction between hair and pillowcases because of their smooth surface. Friction, please use a silk pillowcase or wrap your hair in a silk scarf to sleep to prevent your hair from becoming frizzy and messy while sleeping.

6) Dry your hair with a microfiber towel

Wet hair is fragile, and using a cotton towel to dry your hair can cause serious damage because its loops and weaves are very rough. This often leads to breakage and split ends, resulting in unruly hair. Try wrapping your hair in a microfiber towel, they can greatly reduce fly strands at your hairline.

braid hair

7) Braid your hair

If you can't sort out your messy hair, you can try braiding it. It's not only a must-have hairstyle for windy days, but it's also suitable for any occasion. If you're dealing with flyaways around your hairline, you can try a top bun or a braid. Such hairstyles as garland braids. When braiding, spray a small amount of hairspray on the palm of your hand and work it into the surface of your hair. This will smooth any protruding strands without making your hair sticky.
